Type Study

The aim of this project made through photocopying, cutting, and pasting type was to become familiar with the structure of characters and their abstract visual potential. I developed small windows into a type atmosphere through consideration of weight, balance, and positive and negative space.

Project Parameters:

Set 1) only one letter used in each composition and no letter or type family can be repeated

Set 2) only two letters used in each composition and no type family can be repeated

Set 3) only three letters used in each composition and no type family can be repeated.
